This little throwaway on my instagram stories was so popular (thanks for the shoutout ladies!) that I decided to "formalize" with a real video. I found a cool song and everything. I love things like this. Little "hacks" to quote the nom du jour. Some tiny little tweak that suddenly makes something you already have better/more useable/more durable/more frugal. Like the silicon blender trick, or the fact that I've been applying mascara the wrong way my whole life and just found out.
One of the most fun things about being so into this world of beauty and skincare is that it's two parts science and innovation, two parts art, and a dash of loving, self-care. It's not "just" hair and makeup to me.
Anyways, back to the powder trick. I've been doing this for so long I can't remember where I picked it up from. I think maybe I read it in a Seventeen Magazine in middle school. Forever. I hate carrying powder around because it's big, it spills, it get's everywhere. But it's also the thing I always wish I had for touch-ups later. Serious first world problems here.
The solution is so simple, doesn't really involve buying anything (unless you don't have Ziploc or other plastic bags, in which case, go get some, it's worth it.) I'm not going to give the trick away here because I really want you to watch the video*** below because I worked hard on it and you love me.
Also, I think it's worth mentioning, my two favorite powders in the universe are the Glossier Wowder, which I never would've tried if I wasn't a rep - it's definitely not like anything I've ever used before, and the Bobbi Brown Glow Powders, in bronze and pink glow. I've embedded a lot of links in this post because I'm hoping to have a ton of new visitors because of my Lenny Letter Instagram takeover this week. Come visit me there, it's lit.**
Also, for today's special life wisdom, I wish I had made this video earlier. Sometimes I have a really hard time coming up with new stuff to write, especially since I stopped spending money like I'm dying. I've overlooked this little thing that was right in front of me, that people keep saying is"genius" trying to make these big elaborate things. Sometimes the best things in life are so simple and effortless that we take them for granted.
**I'm not sure I actually know what "lit" means. Please tell me if I used it wrong?
***Also, just want to call out that the vape pen in the video is MEDICINAL MARIJUANA. Tobacco is terrible. Medicinal marijuana is the best anti-pain/nausea tool in my arsenal, and vaping is better for my lungs than smoking a dirty plant, per doctors orders. I'm trying to figure out how to write a non-controversial post about this because I wish I knew things that I know now earlier in my journey. Side effects are heinous on prescription drugs. Would you guys be interested in this? I'm hardly an expert on anything, but I'm ready to stop pretending it's not happening.
